Find out more about some of the incredible individuals who have gone wild with their hair for brilliant cancer research. The funds they’ve raised for ACRF will help give the people they love Australia’s best cancer research.

Sharon shaves for her best friend.

“If you’re thinking about taking on the Hair Dare, do it! This has been one of my proudest moments, I learnt so much from so many people and it also showed me that there are still beautiful people who care out there!”

Sharon bravely shaved her head to honour her close friend, who during cancer treatment suffered devastating hair loss, and raised an incredible

$5,636 to help fund brilliant research.

“I’m doing it for the friend who said she sat on the floor in the shower sobbing after she started washing her hair and it was falling out in clumps”.

Will shaves his head for his Gran.

“It’s for the scientists, so they can make better medicines, so people don’t lose their hair in the first place”

After two and a half years of hair growth, Will cut his 35cm long hair and raised over $6,300 for cancer research. He also donated his locks to Wigs for Kids.

Will lost his grandmother “Narni” to a rare and aggressive lung cancer in July 2022, and dedicated his big chop to her. He chose to have the big chop on her birthday, 9 December

Charlie's Bold Act to reach a world without cancer My name is Charlotte, but I usually go by Charlie. I’ve just recently turned 18 years old. I knew that I had to do something loud to get people’s attention. You never know when a cancer discovery might be made, and I want to help in any way I can.

Alexandre backs brilliant research to support the people he loves My family has been impacted by cancer for generations. My mother as well. When she went through chemotherapy, I remember how she fought hard to hide the physical modifications that came with the treatment. She really did her best so that life looked normal. A wig helped. And that is why I want to help other parents who are just trying to do the same.

A Bump in the road

My name is Jennifer, I am 20 years old. 2018 was a big year for me. I finished my studies, graduated as a nurse, and two days after my final exam headed off overseas for 3 months to celebrate, tired but excited. I was also diagnosed with cancer – Hodgkin’s Lymphoma to be exact.

Cathy does a full shave

All my sisters have taken drastic steps to reduce their risks of getting these cancers – and I had to do something to help, somehow. I decided to shave my head for ACRF. With the community of Echuca, Northern Victoria, rallying around me, I chopped my waist-length hair off to raise vital funds needed for cancer research.

Sammi fearlessly shaves for ACRF

I’m a 28-year old chick with a big heart who can talk the legs off a table. I don’t have a lot of money to donate to champion the cause for those less fortunate, but I certainly have a lot of hair and no fear about getting it chopped off.
